The popularity of Soccer

Why is soccer such a popular sport? It is one of the most popular sports played world wide but it there a reason? There are many... Players are paid excessive amounts of money to score goals with their feet and heads (and hands). There are vicious tackles, fights, spectacular goals and Zinedine Zidane headbutting a dude in the chest. Hooligans go on rampages which isn't a good thing, but it proves that their is a lot of pride and dedication towards soccer clubs, or possibly it proves people like having an excuse to punch someone. But for the sake of this post, I'll assume it's the former. Soccer is popular because it allows people to become part of something and join with others to cheer on their team, to cry and laugh at their club together and to jeer and hiss at their rivals with unconcerned malice. It brings people together and most importantly it creates joy. It's a beautiful sport. - James
