The soccer blog
Why a soccer blog? For the past couple of weeks we have been working on a blog about soccer. During these weeks i have learnt a lot and remembered a lot from others and myself. We chose soccer because it is a group sport, it revolves around many people and we thought it perfectly encompasses a group assignment. We also completely love the sport. Soccer brings people together and brings out the best in people by contrasting and working off of every person involved a group assignment parallels this, through working together we were able to come up with ideas and create a blog which represents not only each member individually but also as a group. We, like players on a soccer side, worked together to achieve a goal, everyone had a certain position, everyone played a part. The posts are a mix of personal, historical and factual information and hopefully you find it as interesting reading it as we did writing it. -Michael

EL CLASICO - The War
EL CLASICO
El Clásico ("The Classic"), is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are among the richest and most successful football clubs in the world. Real Madrid leads the head to head results in competitive matches with 90 wins. Barcelona leads the count in official titles won with 79 trophies (the three Inter-Cities Fairs Cup's won by Barcelona are included since the tournament is the predecessor of the UEFA Cup and recognized by FIFA), while Real Madrid has won 76 trophies. Along with Athletic Bilbao, they are the only clubs in La Liga to have never been relegated. They are sometimes identified with opposing political positions, with Real Madrid viewed as representing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona viewed as representing Catalanism. The rivalry is regarded as one of the biggest in world football. _Samiul Hoque
